Poconos adventures, part 2

Jonathan has been up the Poconos a bunch, but this was my first trip up to the mountains. Did you know that visiting up there means a grandparent is always holding you? That's the best part.

I got to hang out with cousin Shane for a few days, and he taught me how to read books and keep Dad from getting away. The trick is to put lots of kids on him.

And Aunt Beth worked with me on my photo poses. I call this one "smiling shy."

I could get used to this whole constant grandparents thing. I can't wait for Jonathan to take me on our next trip.

Poconos adventures, part 1

So, I did a lot in my week up at Grandmom's Poconos house with Tommy.

I brushed up on my fishing skills.

I practiced my rock throwing skills.

We taught Shane how to use sticks to catch wild lilypads in the lake.

We watched horses work on a farm.

And I learned how to talk to turkeys.

Pretty much your standard vacation fare, but I can't wait to go back up there again.

Back from the Poconos

We just rowed back into town after a nice trip up to Grandmom and Pop-Pop Shane's mountain house. We'll have plenty more pictures later in the week, because there was a ton of fun up there, but first we have to rest up from vacation.

Imagination

You see a balloon. I see an unlimited amount of squeaking noise.

TV appearance

This episode of Sesame Street seems really dry, but I like the new Daddy muppet they added to the cast this season.

Laundry time

Time to help Mom fold the laundry. It's nice to help out around the house, but you have to be careful not to...

Darn it. Not again.

Ready for blast off

We took a trip over to the Goddard Space Flight Center this weekend to see if they had any early previews of the cool new Pluto pictures, but instead they had a whole bunch of spaceships and models for us to check out. Mom said we couldn't fly any of them into space, but it was fun anyway.

My favorite was the giant Delta Launch Vehicle, which was so huge you can barely see me standing next to it. Mom wouldn't let me climb to the top. Some space explorer she is.

Emma really liked the smaller rockets, which were still big enough to get her up to the clouds at least.

And they had a piece of the moon inside! It didn't really do much of anything, but it was a pretty nice looking rock.

My favorite part was sitting in one of the models of the first space capsules, because it was just the right size for me. I'm not sure how somebody in a spacesuit would have fit in there, though. Maybe all the astronauts were only five-years-old when they flew into space.

Duet time

Our piano work is nice, but you should see our rendition of dueling banjos. We're taking it on tour this fall.

T-ball practice

Dad and I have been going to T-ball practice each week to work on all the baseball skills I'll need to play for the Phillies. Dad says I'm probably good enough to start in the outfield already, but the way he says it seems to say more about the team than my hitting skills...

But I'm getting there.Just a few thousand more hits and I'll be ready.

Morning news

I understand that the Greek debt crisis is important, but all I'm saying is that no one is talking about the pig surfing in this magazine's silly picture page.

Besides, I know you're reading sports, Dad.

A laughing matter

Emma, why did the chicken cross the road? Because the road can't cross the chicken! Get it?

Yeah, she gets it.

Spelling bee

So, to make words, you take the letters off the refrigerator and eat them, right?
