First day of second grade

Yep, that's what a second grader looks like.

Well, OK, this is usually what he looks like. But still.

Face pizzas

They sound weird, but they taste delicious.

Oh, yeah, and that's my tooth. It's really, really, really, really loose.

Taking Aunt Kate to the Capitol

Since we had a few days of summer vacation left, Emma and I decided to take Kate (and Grandmom and Pop) for a mini tour of DC. Luckily, Dad knew a guy who could get us inside the cool parts of the Capitol. (It was Dad.)

Here we are looking at the Capitol dome. The paintings there are ridiculously huge.

Here's what that dome looks like.

Not many people know it, but there's a secret train underneath the Capitol building. Pop was a little scared, but we calmed him down.

And here's what it would look like if Aunt Kate was elected Speaker of the House. Emma is concerned about her tax policies. I'm unimpressed with her speechwriter.

Fun with the sprinkler

Yeah, we go to the local pool all the time, but sometimes the sprinkler is more fun:

Eclipse viewing!

We weren't in the path of the total eclipse this week, but we did get a special visit from Grandmom Shane for the solar science lesson, so that was awesome.

Emma and I had a little trouble with the extra dark glasses, but we figured them out in time to get a nice show.

Dad managed to get this little Pac-Man picture of the sun through the clouds. But it looked way cooler live.

Studying up

Summer is almost over. I guess I should look into this whole math thing again to see if anything has changed.

Light reading

I don't understand what Mom does with these thick books. There isn't a single picture in here.

Fun and games

Everybody thinks of sleeping on the beach at the shore, but you have to remember to try out all the other games too.

First, we hit the links:

Ollie and I dominated the shuffleboard court:

Next we checked out the climbing routes at the local playground:

And no trip to the shore would be complete without some time on the rides:

Greatest game ever

We could do this all day. (And we did.)

Buried in the sand

It's what all the cool kids are doing this summer.

Seriously, though, I can't figure out whose legs are where.

Down the shore

The boardwalk can be a little crazy. I'm just helping keep it that way.

Bowling party

I got to catch up with a bunch of school friends today for a birthday bowling party. I'm the one in the picture getting ready for a strike.

It was great to see everyone. I'll be hanging out with them all again in just a few weeks!
