Pre-Easter theater trip

Jonathan and I took Mom and Dad to see the Easter Bunny before the big day on Sunday, and they had a whole collection of princesses there with him for us to see. Jonathan got Cinderella's autograph, but I wasn't really paying attention because it was slowing down my chance to go meet Elsa.

There she was. She was totally cool.

Belle was pretty cool too. All the princesses loved my kitty sweater, obviously.

Jonathan though it was awesome to pose next to the Easter Bunny, but he was a little scary for me. I gave him a smile on the way out, so I think we're all good.

Mom's concert

Mom had a really beautiful solo in her chorale concerts this weekend, and we got a chance to come listen to her on Sunday. It was awesome. And grandmom remembered to bring flowers for us to give her as a present (since Dad dropped the ball again).

Of course, we get a private concert from her nearly every night, so none of it was a surprise to us. But it was still fancy to watch.

So much nature

We visited the local nature preserve today, and Jonathan got attacked by a bear.

OK, not really. It was a stuffed bear. But it looked really cool and we had a fun time walking around the trails.

I can't wait to come back when it's a little warmer. The woods were nice but seemed kinda empty. And the snow is fun and everything, but it's spring already. C'mon, guys.

Snow! For real!

We got our first real snowfall of the winter today (even though this is really the start of spring. I can't keep track of these crazy seasons anymore.)

Dad made a small snow fort and a big snowman on our lawn. Poor guy couldn't stay standing for long, since the temperature was right at 32 degrees. We didn't even have time to sing Olaf songs with him.

Of course, all that snow meant we had to shovel. And since Dad was too busy making snowmen, I had to get the work done. We have a really, really long driveway.

And Emma? She ... helped. Kinda. When she wasn't trying to start snowball fights.

Two princesses

Why, yes, we are adorable. And magical. But we're gonna go play soccer after this.

Springtime hike at Governor's Bridge

Emma and I found a new set of hiking trails near the house this weekend, which was great because Mom and Dad really needed to get some energy out.

In the summer this path is gonna be full of leaves, but it was pretty neat to walk through and see all the trees just getting ready for the spring. The root steps were pretty steep, but I ran up them quick anyways.

Emma couldn't decide if the lake and woods were more fascinating than her jacket. It was a toss up, really.

We're definitely coming back here in the summer.

Strike a pose

First, start off with a leg lift.

Then carefully spin towards the audience.

Stretch out your arm, then...

Tiger claw. It brings the whole dance routine together.

Pinewood derby race!

We had our first Cub Scout pinewood derby on Saturday! The track was about 40 feet long and the cars were timed down to the thousandth of a second. Yeah, it was a pretty serious event.

Emma and I had front row seats for the races, which were awesome. I only got to send my car down four times but it was totally worth it to see all the action. Here's a sample:

In the end, I got a few third-place finishes and a second-place run. And the pack gave me the "best paint job" medal for the awesome flames Dad and I put on the car, which was pretty neat. Next year I'm going for the "Supersonic speed" medal instead.

Pinewood derby prep

Everybody knows the key to a fast pinewood derby car is the color. It makes the air go around the car much faster.

Here's what Dad and I came up with for this year. The flames are important, because they intimidate the other cars. They're made of wood, after all.

Geometry lessons

All I'm saying is that if you have to ask me whether or not this is a cube, maybe you're the one who needs to be studying more.
