Pop nap time

He's not the comfiest bed, but he's still worth trying to take a snooze on.

Dino hunting

Emma and I traveled out to Maryland's dinosaur park this weekend to learn how to become paleontologists. The first rule is that if you find a dinosaur egg big enough to fit inside, you have ot climb in. Emma got that lesson right away.

Next, we got instructions from state employees on how to look for dino fossils. Like, for real. They said all sorts of prehistoric remains are hidden on those hills in the back of the picture, and twice a month anyone is allowed to come in and help search through the rocks to help them identify it.

So Emma and I got to work. It's tough to concentrate on all those little pebbles, and sort out the orange ones from the black ones. But Emma really wanted to find evidence of an Astrodon (the official dinosaur of Maryland) so we got right to work.

In the end, all we found was some 100-million-year-old wood fossils ... which is still pretty awesome. I'll have to go back someday when I have more time to see if there's a whole 20-ton dino hidden under there.

Aunt Jul's jubilee

Aunt Jul knows how to throw a party! We had a great time celebrating her 50th anniversary on Sunday. But fitting all the kids in the picture was a little trickier. I'm not sure how Emma won the spot on her lap, but you know how she is.

Springtime vibes

It'll be warm enough to wear these outfits outside again soon, right? Right?

Go fly a kite

The Cub Scouts had a kite-flying derby this weekend. It took Dad and I a bunch of tries, but we finally got our cool camo plane off the ground and more than 50 feet into the air. And the best part is the wind didn't carry me away, which I was worried about with some of those gusts.

Jonathan's track meet

Jonathan had his first track meet of the season, racing in the 100 meter and the 200 meter. To warm up, he ran around the track twice, which is 800 meters total. That seemed like a heck of a lot to me, but he said it warmed him up.

Here he is charging down the lane in the 100. The 200 was a lot harder, because they had to run around the curve. But he was super excited after both.

And the best part is that Erica is also on the team, so she could braid my hair while I cheered on Jonathan. Why not get two things done at once?

The important part of playing catch is the drama.

That sweater

Hey, remember that kitty sweater the princesses loved so much? LEXI HAS ONE TOO! And we look super, super cute wearing them together. Just saying.

Enjoying the flowers

You gotta spend time outside when you can this spring, because it seems like it's ready to snow every other day around here. Seasons are confusing.

Easter time!

Easter is busy no matter where we have it. Grandmom Shane's big party isn't until next Saturday, but there was still plenty of work to get done at Grandmom Doyle's place.

First was the eggs. Did you know Grandmom thought you could only make eggs with two colors? We showed her how wrong that was.

Next it was time to start cooking. I worked on the hot over and moved Grandmom to the side so she'd be safe.

Then it was time to get dressed and look good! Here's our annual family picture. Jonathan is getting too big for these, so next year we're gonna make him stand behind Mom.
