Final pinewood derby

That was the last pinewood derby run for me (vs. Emma's car) before my bridging ceremony from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. The car looked awesome, but I still think we should have snuck a little engine in there to make it really go.

After that, it was time for our den to say its goodbyes. Cub Scouts was awesome, and luckily I'll get to hang with most of these guys at the next level too. Dad read a script about all the stuff we did during our time together ...

... and then he pinned my Arrow of Light on. I got to stick him with a special parent pin too. (Don't worry, no blood was shed).

And we all built this great arrow plaque to help us remember our time together. I've got mine hanging above the bed now, in case I ever forget everything I've done and learned. Next up, getting my Eagle badge!

Cicada invasion?

We keep hearing about how these things are gonna take over the whole neighborhood, but they don't seem so scary to me. Besides, how many of them could there be?

A ride around the park

We took a visit to Wheaton park recently pretty much just because they have a train you can ride. And it was awesome.

We got a full visit of the park, darting through trees and over a few small rivers. It wasn't a full train, but it was the first train we've gotten to ride on in a long time, and it lived up to the anticipation.

And afterwards. Emma and I took a shorter trip around the carousel. The view wasn't quite as good, but it was fun to be able to do that again too.

Trampolines for sleeping

Everybody knows the best place for jumping is your bed, so how could we not use the old mattresses for some freestyle acrobatic practice?

Getting shipped to grandmom's

I don't think this is gonna work, but I couldn't come up with a good argument to counter Emma on why we shouldn't try, so somebody slap some stamps on here and let's find out.

Back to the zoo

It has been a long time since we've been able to get out and see the sights, but this weekend we finally got a chance to check out the Baltimore Zoo and the many, many flamingos there.

And the porcupines.

And this crazy crocodile.

And, of course, the elephants.

You can't see the big smiles under these masks, but don't worry -- they're there, and the animals were awesome.

Giddy up

He's not the best horse ride, but he is the best brother. So, it all works out.

C'mon already, summer

The big pool isn't open yet but the little pool is ... enough for right now, I guess. We really need to get back to swimming already.

Green thumbs

It's about time somebody cleaned up this garden, and it's becoming clear that the other people in this house just aren't going to get the work done.

All aboard the crazy train

What? Dad said to make a crazy face, and I just happened to have one ready to go.
