Limited real estate

This crib seemed so much roomier last night...

Future scientist

Looking at this bracelet in the microscope is fun and everything, but I'm gonna need something with much better magnifying powers if we're gonna get any real data over here.

Too much summer

And we're only in May.

Cheering on the horses

Dad turned on the Kentucky Derby so we could watch horses run around in a big circle, and, well, this happened:

Just relaxing with the dogs

Jonathan always picks the best seat in the house, so I figured I'd follow his lead.

Early college football cheer

For team jersey day at school, I wore my Ohio State shirt. I thought it looked great, but I need to work on my Heisman pose.

Gardening lessons

I thought the April showers brought May flowers. Why do we have to plant these then?

First sprinkler session of the year

80-plus degrees in April? We'd better make sure this thing is working so it's ready for the summer.

Laundry time

If you think loading us into the washer is tough, wait until you see what it takes to fold us after we're clean.

We love you, Pop

We were blessed to have you as long as we did.

Coloring Easter eggs

We traveled up to Grandmom Shane's this weekend for Easter, and that meant getting out the egg dye again. Grandmom never participates in the fun, but this year Pop wanted to learn everything I could show him.

I don't think Pop really got it. But the eggs turned out pretty.

Big and strong

Do I look like I care if it says "ages 5 and up?"

Sunday, April 9, 2017

Breakfast time

How about a little less camera and a little more Cheerios, Dad?

Calm amid the storm

Bubbles can be so soothing.

First lost tooth!

And I didn't even know it was loose! I had to leave a note for the Tooth Fairy because I'm still not sure when it came out, but she said not to worry about it and left me a present.

I did have to calm Mom down because she started saying something about me growing too fast...

Space time

I'm not saying we're headed to the moon anytime soon, but just in case...

Too much fun

Some days you just can't handle it all.

Crossing the bridge

There's barely enough room for the two of us on here.

Making blueberry bread

Just so we're clear here -- if I help bake the bread, I get to eat it all myself, right?

Disappointing snowfall

Not enough to play in, but enough for Dad to make me work...

Most dangerous piggyback ride ever

Don't try this at home, we're both professionals.

1001st post

Seriously, we passed 1,000 picture posts on this blog last week. It's about time someone did a little cleaning around here. Do you see all the dust that's gathered at the corners of the web page?

Too early for spring?

I know it's still cold out, but I have all these cute dresses to show off!

Morning goofballs

We're not really surprised. We're just stretching out our faces for the day ahead.

Really, my climbing ability knows no limits.

We need more lap

I mean, sure, there's more couch to sit on over there, but what good would that do us?

Piano duet practice

We'll take the show on the road this summer.

Birthday cake review

We had a few different birthday parties in recent days, because honestly you can't contain a seven-year-old birthday in just a single day.

We had a traditional Batman cake at Grandmom Shane's, which was really cool because the part hidden under his face had no icing just for me.

And at Grandmom Doyle's, we had an impressive cupcake spread that had purple icing for some, chocolate icing for others and little sugar stars for everyone.

Mom said both spreads had eight candles because I needed and extra one for good luck, but honestly I think she just had trouble counting again. It's ok, sometimes it's hard to keep count and light fires at the same time.

Happy birthday to me (part 7)

I keep getting older, but one thing that never gets old is checking in with my good buddy the big bear.

Here he is when I was just a few days old:

Here he is at my first birthday:

At my second birthday:

At my third birthday:

At my fourth birthday:

At my fifth, still looking small:

At my sixth birthday last year:

And here he is today:

For more perspective, here's what the bear looks like when he make a crazy face:

He's a jokster, that bear. And he's super patient to put up with this every year, especially when he doesn't grow at all.

Ready for the baseball season

Our arms are rested, ready and looking good. When do the Phillies games start?

Heading for home

Spring training started this week, so Tommy and I started practicing just in case the Phillies need some help. Tommy's form was pretty good, but my shirt choice was better for the team.

Personal style

Mom's sweater plus Jonathan's shoes equals a perfect outfit for me.

All the food

Dad, can we buy an extra box of ... everything? Please?

For the record, this happens several times a day.

A Day at the Museum

Emma and I got to take Mom and Dad to go see dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum this weekend, and they were as awesome as you think. It's the first time I've ever seen a T-Rex skeleton, and that guy was scary!

The Triceratops was much friendlier. I wanted to pet him, but Dad said something about 63 million year old bones and rules and stuff.

Emma was a little worried about the size of the dinosaurs, but she loved the skeletons of the cats and the smaller animals. But she couldn't pet them either. Spoilsports.

Of course, when the giraffe models tried to eat her, she was a little unhappy again.

And we got to walk through the butterfly house too. The one on the tree in front of me was the size of my face! I didn't even think about petting that thing. Who knows what a giant butterfly is capable of.

Glamor shots

The key to pulling off a ladybug costume while wearing your pajamas is accessories -- lots of bracelets and necklaces. It's what all the big celebs do on the red carpet.

Freezing frisbee

Hot or cold, Tommy and I look good tossing those things around the yard.

Trying on heels

Nah, I don't think it's too early for this. And besides, they match my tee-shirt perfectly.

Actual speed of children

I'll admit it -- we've been slowing down all these videos for years to make it easier to follow the kids' antics. In the interest of honesty, here they are at normal speed:

Yoda Emma

There is no try, Dad. There is only do or do not.

Now don't make me use the power of the force to ... hold on, I feel like we've done all this before ...

Huh. I guess it's a phase all two-year-olds go through.
