Memorial Day Parade 2019

Dad and I got to march in the Bowie Memorial Day parade last weekend (boy, the cub scouts were super busy this month). I've been to the parade almost every year since I was born, but this was the first time I got to see it from the inside.

We had a good crowd of scouts for the event, mostly other Webelos in my den. That's great, because we're supposed to be leaders for the younger kids next year, so we'll be able to teach them about civic pride and how to walk in a straight line.

I wasn't crazy about handing out candy, but I loved holding the pack banner and leading the group. The parade route was about a mile, but it was a pretty easy walk when everyone is clapping and cheering for you.

Waving and walking is a little tricky, but Dad and I both had it down by the end. It was a ton of fun. We should really have more parades, maybe once a month.

Trend setter

What do you do when your crazy sister decides she should wear her glasses upside down?

You embrace the trend, of course. She is very fashionable. Maybe she's onto something.

Tea party time

I'll wait five more minutes for the guests to show, but if they still aren't here by then, all the cookies are mine.

Cub Scout campout (finally!)

After several tries, we finally got our cub scout campout in last weekend. The last two have been cancelled because of weather. We had pretty bad storms overnight, but Dad and I stuck it out and had a ton of fun.

Here's where we slept. Emma helped us set it up, but she went back to the house with grandparents to sleep. Can't really blame her for that, but I wanted an adventure.

Before we went to bed, we had a hike, ate smores and told scary stories (that weren't very scary) around a campfire. This was quality camping. I'm pretty much a pro at it now, so if you're making smores or need sleeping advice, let me know.

Fun Day 2019

School Fun Day was this past Saturday, which mean I ran straight for the Plinko game, because you know I have to play that every year.

Emma is finally getting big enough to play more of these games, so I challenged her to a game of Connect Four. I beat her pretty easily, but only because she still really couldn't reach the top.

The event had giant inflatable slides this year, which was awesome because I love jumping on 20-foot-tall pillows.

They had bounce houses that were more Emma's size too. She was afraid to go on the big slides, but had no trouble climbing into ...

... a gigantic shark mouth, which was way more intimidating than what I went on. Go figure.

More power in one pinkie...

Sometimes you just gotta pose, Dad.

Cub Scout bridging ceremony

I know this looks like a group of Bear scouts just relaxing, but it's actually a den of Webelos. Our group moved up to the next rank today after a long year of hard work.

Only 11 of us made it to the ceremony, but there were 13 of us in the den altogether. That's a pretty big team to tackle all the new scout tasks next fall. I can't wait to start that adventure next.

Screaming crazies

They're both long and noisy. They're lucky they're cute.

Dance recital

This weekend was my first dance recital ever, and it was aaaaaamazing. Just watch:

After the show, we got a standing ovation and Jonathan brought me some flowers. I'm not sure if he had more fun or I did. I can't wait for the next chance to get on a big stage like that.

Morning goodbyes

Every day, before I start my classes at daycare, I have to run to the window and blow Dad a kiss before he leaves. Otherwise, he sometimes gets scared to go the whole day without me.
